Vales Unique Roof Construction

Conservatories and Orangeries have to cope with immense loadings from the weight of the glass, high winds and heavy snow. At Vale, we have developed a unique roofing system for our conservatories, combining timber with metal. With this we are able to achieve greater strengths and spans incorporating double glazed units between fine glazing rafters. The advantages of a technically advanced roofing system are achieved without compromising on traditional detail, therefore the slender appearance of the single glazed conservatories of the past is recreated.

Our roofs are designed and fabricated in a variety of aluminium extrusions to create conservatories and orangeries of great strength. Metal tie bars, decorative support  castings and load bearing columns are designed into the buildings where required. Internally the roof structure is totally clad in timber mouldings and trims, all decorated to the authentic detailing of the period.

Our own glazing bars consist of a structural aluminium core bar, clad internally by a decorative timber trim. The glass is supported by neoprene gaskets and secured externally with a maintenance-free powder coated capping.

The provision of adequate ventilation is of key importance when achieving air movement and a balanced temperature in the summer months. Vale offer various forms of ventilation which allow greater flexibility when designing a conservatory or orangery.

Traditional vents can be opened manually by a brass winding gear or electrically and thermostatically controlled with built in rain sensor if required.

Canopies and gallery vents are raised and lowered electrically. The underside of this type of ventilation is hidden by an attractive lattice ceiling.

Lanterns can provide ventilation in the form of opening side lights, usually electrically operated.

All forms of ventilation can be electrically and thermostatically controlled with an inbuilt rain sensor as an option.
